TRIBU PANAYANON: 2013 Aliwan Festival champion

Aliwan means entertainment or amusement, and thus Aliwan Festival delivers just that. Dubbed as the "Mother of All Fiestas", Aliwan Festival started in 2003 and gathers annually the different cultural festivals all over the Philippines. Each participant from the different regions in the country showcases the richness of their heritage and culture. This is also an opportunity for them to promote their respective regions for the Philippines and the whole world to see.

And for four consecutive years now a Dinagyang Festival champion has brought home another winning moment for the Ilonggos. Tribu Panayanon (composed of students from Iloilo City High School), the 2013 Dinagyang champion, competed with much energy and a truly captivating performance which made them the grand champion of Aliwan Festival 2013. The tribe also grabbed the Best in Music and Costume awards.

As the city is striving to be recognized and thus uplift the economy and tourism, so it does also encourage participants in the Dinagyang Festival to give their best performances. And so the fruit of this dream and labor is evident in recognitions earned. Truly Dinagyang Festival is the Queen Festival of the Philippines!

Miss Dinagyang 2013 also wins in Aliwan Festival 2013!

Another victory for the Ilonggos is thru Miss Dinagyang 2013 Emily Victoria Oke, who emerged as the first runner-up in the Aliwan Festival 2013 Reyna ng Aliwan Pageant. She also grabbed the Best in Swimsuit award.

The Fil-Nigerian model started her modeling career at age 16 and won the Ms. Carabao-Carroza Festival Queen in 2010, the Festival of Pavia, Iloilo being held every 4th of May (click here to read about Pavia and its festival).
